Sunday Worship
From the beginning God has called us into a relationship with Him, and created us for community. Christian worship joyfully gives praise and honor, and acknowledges the glory and power of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We worship through shared experience in acts of prayer, proclamation, music, remembrance, and offering. Worship times and directions

About the Minister
The pastor encourages the church community in the worship and service of God, and to equip and enable us to reach out in concern and service to the community, devoting special attention to the poor, the sick, the troubled, and the dying. The pastor is responsible for studying, teaching, and preaching the Scriptures, and also administers baptism, communion, and performs weddings and funerals.

Reverend Dr. Anthony Gamley
Our Interim Pastor at College Avenue Presbyterian Church is Reverend Anthony Gamley. Reverend Bill Beatty retired after 34 years of service on 3 June 2007. Reverend Gamley started on 16 August 2007. He is a South African of Scottish ancestry.

He has previously served three churches in the United States: as Interim Pastor in Wendall, Idaho; as Interim Pastor in Bainbridge Island, Washington, and as Pastor in Hacienda Heights, Los Angeles California. He has served four churches in South Africa. Returning to South Africa in 1981 sensing the end of apartheid, Anthony served as an educator, and retired as Superintendent of Education in 2006, working for non-racial democracy under Nelson Mandela, and remaining in the new government for some thirteen years after the arrival of democracy in 1994.

Reverend Gamley has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Divinity from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa. He has a Bachelor of Musicology from the University of South Africa, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California. In addition, he holds Performer's and Teacher's Licentiates in Piano and a Postgraduate High School Educator's Diploma—all from the University of South Africa.

About the Elders
The duty of the Elders is to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of our church community. Along with the pastor, they encourage us in the worship and service of God, equip and renew us in our service to the church and our mission in the community and the world. Elders are persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment.

About the Deacons
The duty of the Deacons is to minister to those in the community who are in need, sick, friendless, and to anyone who may be in distress. The Deacons pray for individuals and families entrusted in their care. Deacons also perform home communion for shut-ins or those hospitalized. The Deacon's Fund offers targeted assistance to members of our church family as well as the community at large who may have special financial need. All Deacon matters are done in confidence and remain private.
